Jasmine Jobson reacts to the Top Boy spin-off



Jasmine Jobson, known for her role in Top Boy, has shared her thoughts on the potential spin-off centered around her character Jaq Lawrence. While the season five finale seemed to mark a farewell to Jaq, creator Ronan Bennett has hinted at discussions with Netflix for a spin-off, emphasizing its focus on Jaq if approved.

Following her BAFTA win for Best Supporting Actress, Jobson mentioned that Netflix hasn't approached her about the spin-off yet but expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "If Netflix is on board, count me in." She admitted her struggle to let go of Jaq and welcomed the idea of bringing the character back, but acknowledged it's beyond her control.



Reflecting on her preparation for the role, Jobson shared how she consulted with her LGBTQ+ friends to portray Jaq authentically, acknowledging the learning process and expressing gratitude for their support.

Regarding the response from the LGBTQ+ community, Jobson expressed appreciation for the love received since Jaq's introduction in 2019. She recounted conversations with individuals who felt empowered by Jaq's character, emphasizing the importance of self-confidence and expressing her desire to inspire confidence in others through her roles.
